SACRAMENTO, CA - According to a case synopsis from Sacramento Police released Friday, witnesses said 20-year-old Quran Jones was seen holding a knife to his face and hitting himself in the head with a baseball bat moments after the attack on 23-year-old Scott Hawkins, who later died.
The dorm attack happened October 21 on the Sacramento State University campus.
Campus police who first made contact with Jones said he was holding a knife and standing near a bloody and unconscious Hawkins when they arrived.
Police say Jones had a crazed look in his eye, "one eye was looking one way, the other eye looking another way," according to police.
Jones refused to drop the knife and police fired seven rounds of pepper balls into Jones' chest. Police were forced to fire three bullets into Jones' abdomen when he approached the officers.
In the ambulance, Jones reportedly lied to officers, telling them his name was "Jerome" and that the attack was started by his roommate who shot him.
A note was also found in Jones' trashcan which read: "If Quran Muhammed Jones ever dies, he, Quran Muhammed Jones, orders you to put his body in an incinerator so that every atom of his body is burned away, thank you."
